Where to Find Moss
Whether you live in the city or the countryside,
you may find the small moss-covered stones in rainy days. the mosses are usually Racomitrium or Funaria.
You can safely bring home:
- small stones / bricks / even small pieces of concrete covered with moss
This container is designed specifically for growing and displaying them.
How to Plant
Very simple:
- Add a layer of porous stones (lava rock is best, small gravel also works)
- Fill about 2/3 of the base
- Place your moss-covered stones directly inside
If you want to add other small plants, you can include a layer of soil.
Watering
- Keep the water level below the stone layer
- If too much water is added, simply pour it out
Placement
Place it in the brightest spot in your home, near a window with strong indirect light.
Both Racomitrium and Funaria moss require bright indirect light.
Occasional direct sunlight is fine—the large ventilation openings allow heat to escape quickly.
